Gotham Per-diem is hiring School Aides / Paraprofessionals / Tutors / Teachers Assistants to work with a student(s) on a 1 to 1 basis with behavioral issues in a Charter Schools in Manhattan, Brooklyn and The Bronx. This is a long-term Monday through Friday 8AM to 3PM, pays $11.50 an hour!


Job Summary:

Academic/Behavioral Support:
• Help students remain focused during lessons and independent work.
• Support one-on-one or small group instruction as outlined by the teacher.
• Reinforce behavior through the use of positive supports.
• Aid occupational therapists, physical therapists, speech therapists, and other education providers during instruction.
• Guide and assist students in routines and in transitioning from one activity to the next.
• Collect behavioral data for your student.
• Write separate anecdotal information concerning your student’s behavior while they are receiving 1:1 related services.
• Repeat and/or remodel directions and instructional tasks.
• Reteach content in one-on-one or small group activities as directed by the classroom teacher.
• Motivate student to do better and provide positive feedback.
• Respect the discipline model set up by teacher.
• Continuously remind student of expected behavior and academic engagement.
• Help student follow school and classroom rules/routines.
• Implement any Behavior Intervention Plans and/or Crisis Plans for the student.

General Support:
• Complete tasks outlined by classroom teacher. This may include, but is not limited to:
• Making photo copies
• Helping with Bright-Work folders
• Organizing/preparing materials
• Monitoring student behavior
• Reinforcing student expectations as articulated by the teacher


• Be at least 18 years of age
• Have a high school diploma
• Be capable of physically assisting students with specials needs as required(positioning, lifting, transferring, restraining, etc.)
• Have demonstrated ability to work effectively under the direction of others
• Have willingness to assume any responsibilities appropriate for the position
• Support the Mission Statement of the district.
• Behave and speak in a professional manner at all times.
• Set a good example in terms of dress, punctuality, and attendance.
• Attend staff and team meetings.
• Be proactive in matters relating to health and safety.
• Worked with a student in a school or after school care setting
